Accounting Manager, Royalty | BIOWORLD MERCHANDISING

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Bioworld Merchandising. Bioworld Merchandising is a leading design and distribution company of licensed and private label apparel, headwear & accessories to all retail channels. This position is essential for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of licensing royalties, managing projects, and supporting various financial reporting and accounting matters. The role contributes directly to maintaining strong financial integrity and operational efficiency within the company.

• Mission: This person will ensure the accuracy and compliance of licensing royalties, manage related projects, and support various reporting and accounting matters.
• Tech Stack: ERP systems, Power BI, Microsoft products (Excel, Outlook)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Royalty Agreements: Coordinate review and documentation of license agreements with the Paralegal and Licensing team, understanding terms, rates, and payment structures.
• Ensure Royalty Accuracy: Review reporting to licensors and analyze sales data, revenue streams, and costs to ensure accuracy in royalty calculations and support quarterly reporting.
• Maintain Royalty Compliance & Database: Ensure all royalty accounting and reporting activities comply with contractual agreements and relevant accounting standards, and maintain the royalty database by creating new contract entries, updating rates, and managing contact information.
• Support Financial Operations: Reconcile royalty payments, prepare royalty, inventory, and departmental forecast reports, maintain various balance sheet accounts, and assist with month-end close and financial statement preparation/analysis.
• Drive Process Improvements & Audits: Partner with IT on software implementation and enhancements, work with cross-functional teams to examine and improve existing procedures, support external audits, and lead accounting initiatives while mentoring team members.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor of Science/Arts with an Accounting Major, required. Career level: Manager.
• Experience: 7-10 years’ work experience in progressive accounting roles in a similar industry (wholesale/distribution/retail or other inventory-based operations) or with a company processing royalties.
• Skills: Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills; proficiency with ERP systems, Power BI, and Microsoft products (Excel, Outlook); ability to meet deadlines and perform work with a high degree of accuracy.
• Bonus: CPA or CMA certifications are desirable; audit and/or royalty experience preferred; demonstrated ability to lead teams and implement process improvements.
