Accounting Manager Intern Job Description

Position: Accounting Manager Intern
Location: Fully Remote (US-based)
Duration: 6 Months, Unpaid Internship

Role Overview:

The Accounting Manager Intern at HLS will play a key role in managing the organization’s financial records and ensuring compliance with legal financial practices. This role is designed for individuals seeking to build a strong accounting foundation, particularly within the non-profit sector, with potential for extended roles within HLS after the internship.

Tasks and Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing and overseeing HLS’s budget to ensure financial sustainability.
• Prepare detailed financial reports and conduct monthly analyses.
• Manage daily financial operations, including invoicing, payroll, and expense tracking.
• Participate in fundraising activities and grant management.
• Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and ensure HLS meets legal financial standards.
• Implement and refine financial policies and procedures to maximize efficiency.
• Provide strategic financial insights to aid organizational decisions.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders about financial health and forecasts.
• Manage HLS’s financial systems and lead technological upgrades as needed.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Demonstrated interest in accounting and financial management, preferably within the non-profit sector.
• Understanding of financial regulations applicable to non-profits.
• Proficient in financial software, databases, and Excel.
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Passionate about HLS’s mission and committed to community service.
