Job Description: Accounting Internship
This is a full-time, paid 10-to-12-week summer internship program located at First American’s Corporate Headquarters, offering a hybrid work opportunity. The program is designed to provide college students with practical experience and develop their technology, professional, and interpersonal skills within the financial/title industry. Interns will participate in intern-specific activities, executive-level presentations, and networking opportunities.
Responsibilities:
• Gain an overview of daily, weekly, and monthly processes within a corporate accounting department of a publicly traded company.
• Maintain the integrity of accounting information and systems.
• Review processes for compliance with GAAP and other regulatory bodies.
• Perform reconciliations, analyze and synthesize financial data from business operations.
• Actively participate in preparing public financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, SEC filings, and other regulatory reports).
• Evaluate or support the evaluation of company and regional profitability, efficiency, and product performance.
• Potentially evaluate the effects of changes in accounting regulations on the company’s financial statements and accounting controls.
• Execute accounting policies and procedures.
• Participate in internal and external audits, including Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance.
Qualifications:
• College/University student enrolled in an Accounting Bachelor’s degree program with 0-2 years of work experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications, especially MS Excel.
• Interest and willingness to learn about Accounting in the Mortgage, Real Estate, Financial, or Title Insurance Industries.
• Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and conscientious work ethic.
• Strong customer focus and professional demeanor.
• Potential to excel in communication, customer focus, ethics & integrity, teamwork & adaptability, productivity & initiative.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Ideally a 3rd or 4th-year student.
Compensation: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour (This is an estimated range and may vary based on factors like experience and location).
