Accounting Intern | Alegria Advisors

The Tone:
This is a seasonal full-time internship at Alegria & Company, P.S., located in Yakima, WA. Alegria & Company, P.S. is a growth-focused public accounting firm serving a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple industries and locations. This role provides foundational public accounting experience, focusing on tax work, client service, and team collaboration within a supportive environment. The position is designed to help an emerging professional build technical skills, effective work habits, and professional confidence.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconcile: Assist with preparing trial balances and account reconciliations using client source data.
• Prepare: Support the preparation of basic financial statements and tax returns under supervision.
• Research: Perform assigned engagement procedures and conduct simple research into tax or accounting and auditing questions.
• Document: Maintain organized, complete, and well-documented workpapers prepared with care before review.
• Communicate: Clearly and professionally communicate with team members, providing timely status updates, especially when questions or obstacles arise.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level, current student or emerging professional interested in accounting, tax, or audit and assurance work. Foundational accounting coursework or equivalent knowledge is preferred.
• Experience: Foundational understanding of accounting principles, including cash versus accrual accounting, debits and credits, and equity rollforwards. Practical experience that supports future career opportunities in accounting.
• Skills: Ability to organize supporting information and prepare clear, well-documented workpapers; developing analytical, critical-thinking, and research skills; professional written and verbal communication skills; commitment to accuracy, responsiveness, teamwork, and client service.
• Bonus: Willingness to learn firm processes, professional standards, and accounting technology, along with the ability to work independently when appropriate and collaborate effectively with a team.
