2027 Summer Accounting Intern | WoodmenLife

The Tone:
This is a temporary internship at WoodmenLife, located in Omaha, NE, for the summer of 2027. WoodmenLife is a not-for-profit life insurance company with over 135 years of service, recognized as one of the best places to work in Omaha. This 10-week Summer Internship Program aims to integrate interns who bring fresh perspectives and skills, contribute to value-added work, and enhance the talent pipeline. The intern will provide essential administrative support to the Accounting division, assisting with daily objectives and gaining valuable workplace experience in the insurance industry, supported by real-world experience and mentorship.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Organizational Engagement: Gain broad exposure to the WoodmenLife organization through weekly meetings with the Internship Cohort, Executive Leadership, and one-on-one with division-level leaders.
• Capstone Presentation: Summarize and present a capstone presentation detailing the internship experience, including project accomplishments, skill development, and key learnings.
• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Gain an in-depth introduction to both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, including coding payments, applying payments, researching inquiries, and corresponding with internal and external stakeholders.
• Financial Reporting Support: Provide essential support for financial statement and regulatory filings, while developing a comprehensive understanding of the Annual Statement preparation process.
• Tax & Compliance: Process specific tax returns and gain an in-depth introduction to unclaimed property and unemployment filings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Sophomore, Junior or Senior in college with an area of study in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields.
• Experience: Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA and the ability to work 38.75 hours per week.
• Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills, proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, and the ability to provide seamless, trustworthy, attentive and resourceful (S.T.A.R.) customer service.
