Accounting Intern – Summer 2027 | Siemens

The Tone:
This is a temporary internship at Siemens, located in Raleigh, NC. Siemens is a global organization that empowers companies to transform maintenance and operations using connected insights, AI-powered technology, and intelligent asset management software. This role supports the Asset Management Software (AMS) Accounting team, a fast-growing software business unit within Siemens Smart Infrastructure, enabling the intern to gain practical accounting experience while contributing to finance transformation efforts.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support Accounting Operations: Assist with various accounting activities, including account reconciliations, accrual preparation, expense recognition, revenue-related analysis, and ad hoc accounting projects.
• Ensure Data Integrity: Aid in data cleansing, validation, and reconciliation tasks to support accurate financial reporting.
• Enhance Reporting & Analytics: Help develop, maintain, or improve reporting and analytics using digital tools such as Power BI, Power Query, KNIME, or Excel.
• Improve Processes: Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for process simplification, enhance documentation, and increase efficiency within accounting operations.
• Foster Collaboration: Partner with Finance, IT, Shared Services, and other business stakeholders to understand how accounting systems, data flows, and reporting platforms are interconnected.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled as a rising senior in an accredited four-year educational institution, preferably pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Experience: Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Interest in or basic exposure to Power BI, Power Query, KNIME, or similar data analytics, reporting, automation, or digital finance tools.
• Skills: High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, comfort working with data, documentation, and financial information, along with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and able to work from the Raleigh office for team collaboration.
• Bonus: Previous internship, coursework, or project experience related to accounting, finance operations, data analysis, process documentation, systems improvement, or digital transformation. Curiosity about finance transformation, process automation, reporting analytics, AI-enabled solutions, and continuous improvement in accounting processes. A basic understanding of how ERP systems, accounting data, and reporting tools connect, or a strong willingness to learn. Interest in collaborating across Finance, IT, Shared Services, and business teams within Siemens Smart Infrastructure and AMS.
