The Tone:
This is a full-time, in-person internship at ITC Holdings Corp. for Summer 2027. This Intern-Accounting role is designed to provide invaluable experience supporting the company’s critical accounting business objectives. The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Full-time, Seasonal (Summer)
• Location: In-person
• Team: Rotational exposure across financial reporting, internal audit, corporate accounting, fixed assets, tax, and accounting policy groups.
• Mission: This role provides hands-on experience and support for financial reporting, data analysis, and compliance processes to achieve organizational accounting objectives.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), accounting software.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Record Management: Assist with precise data entry, diligent filing, and the overall maintenance of accurate financial records to support robust accounting practices.
• Month-End Close Support: Prepare essential journal entries and provide direct support for month-end close activities, contributing to timely and accurate financial reporting cycles.
• Reporting & Analysis: Support the comprehensive preparation of various financial statements, internal reports, and detailed variance analyses, offering insights into financial performance.
• Compliance & Audit: Aid in the computations for tax purposes, assist with the preparation of tax returns, and compile necessary documentation for audits. This also includes active participation in internal audit activities, focusing on the review of controls and compliance processes.
• Project & Learning Participation: Engage actively in specific accounting-related special projects and attend key team meetings to foster a deeper understanding of industry practices and operational workflows.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an Entry-Level internship position. Candidates must currently be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• Experience: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required. Applicants must be comfortable and proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This program requires a commitment to a 12-week, 40-hour per week schedule during the summer.
• Skills: Candidates should possess a basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and fundamental accounting principles. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.
