Accounting Intern (Spring 2028) | SVA | A Professional Services Company
The Tone:
This is a paid internship located in Madison, WI, offering a valuable introduction to the accounting and business worlds. SVA is an independent and growing professional services firm, certified as a Great Place to Work®, that provides professional services to clients. This role is an opportunity to collaborate with an accomplished and diverse team, gaining hands-on experience in a CPA firm during the busy season. The goal of this internship is to provide the ultimate experience, potentially leading to full-time, permanent employment with SVA.

• Team: Collaborates with an accomplished and diverse team; paired with a People Leader for guidance and a Buddy for onboarding.
• Mission: To provide current accounting students with hands-on experience in a CPA firm by assisting with a wide range of accounting duties and responsibilities similar to an entry-level staff accountant.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Work: Prepare various tax returns, including individual, trust, and business entities, along with supporting workpapers, extensions, and Forms 1099.
• Audit and Assurance: Complete assigned audits, reviews, and compilations, including preparing simple financial statements and analytic workpapers.
• Advisory Services: Prepare accounting adjustments and financial reports for clients, gaining experience with various accounting software.
• Data Analysis: Analyze data, assist in preparing complex Excel spreadsheets for valuations and data analytics, and help with special accounting projects.
• Research and Review: Research basic federal and state tax issues and review tax returns for missing information or inconsistencies.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum 3 years college experience preferred, actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Experience: No prior professional experience required, as this role is designed to provide hands-on experience similar to an entry-level staff accountant.
• Skills: Ability to prepare financial reports, conduct data analysis, assist with tax return preparation, complete audit and assurance procedures, and post journal entries and adjustments.
