Accounting Intern | Life Fitness / Hammer Strength
The Tone:
This is a hybrid internship at Life Fitness / Hammer Strength, located in the Chicagoland area. Life Fitness / Hammer Strength is a global organization dedicated to empowering the world to work out and creating healthier lives together. This role is crucial as it provides meaningful, hands-on experience supporting core accounting functions within the business. The internship is designed for professional development, allowing interns to gain exposure to financial processes that ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of business reporting.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Contributions: Contribute to business-critical projects that support the Accounting organization and broader business objectives.
• Core Accounting Operations: Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including processing financial data, preparing journal entries, and supporting cash reconciliation.
• Financial Closing & Reporting: Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, month-end close activities, and quarter-end financial reporting processes.
• Data Integrity & Analysis: Research financial discrepancies, investigate variances, coordinate supporting documentation, and assist with financial analysis and reporting projects.
• Collaboration & Presentation: Actively participate in accounting team meetings, cross-functional discussions, and collaborate on a 12-week cross-functional case study project to present recommendations to senior leaders.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree program with an expected graduation date in 2028 or 2029, pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: No specific years required. Candidates must reside in the Chicagoland area and be able to work on-site as required for the duration of the internship.
• Skills: Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities; excellent organizational and time management skills; professional written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Bonus: Strong academic standing preferred, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2. Experience working with financial data, accounting coursework, or related academic projects is a plus. Demonstrated initiative, positive attitude, and eagerness to learn are also valued.
