Accounting Intern (Summer 2027) | Zipline

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Zipline, located in South San Francisco, CA. Zipline designs, builds, and operates the world’s largest autonomous logistics system, delivering critical supplies globally. They are on a mission to serve all humans equally by ensuring access to food, medicine, and essential goods anytime, anywhere, completing millions of deliveries across four continents. This role is crucial for supporting the essential financial operations that keep Zipline’s global drone delivery service running smoothly and efficiently, directly impacting people’s lives and scaling the future of logistics.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and maintain accurate accounting records as part of core accounting processes.
• Compile financial data, run reports, and prepare schedules to support the monthly and quarterly financial closes.
• Perform data entry, analysis, and cleanup projects within Zipline’s finance systems to ensure data accuracy.
• Track, capitalize, and reconcile fixed assets in collaboration with country operations and manufacturing teams.
• Collaborate with broader Finance, Procurement, and Operations teams to track transactions and streamline accounting processes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Completed the second year of undergraduate studies in Accounting. Masters and PhDs are also eligible for this internship.
• Experience: No specific prior work experience is required; however, familiarity with Excel or Google Sheets is expected.
• Skills: Possess strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, proficiency in working with numbers, and an eagerness to apply academic learning to practical scenarios. Demonstrate effective problem-solving abilities, reliability, and resourcefulness.
• Bonus: Proficiency in using advanced formulas or pivot tables in Excel or Google Sheets. A genuine curiosity about the nuances of in-house accounting within a global high-growth tech startup, coupled with an understanding of how finance directly supports Zipline’s mission and global operations at scale.
