Accounting Intern – Summer 2027 | Scout Clean Energy

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Scout Clean Energy, located in Boulder, CO. Scout Clean Energy is a renewable energy developer and operator. As an Accounting Intern, you will play an integral role in building a productive team by learning about the various facets of a renewable energy company’s accounting operations. Your accurate completion of accounting tasks on firm timelines will ensure the company’s continued growth and ability to meet its commitments to staff, investors, communities, and business partners.

• Location: In-person Boulder, CO
• Pay: $25–$30 hourly
• Team: Reports directly to Scout’s Controller, and interfaces with the Assistant Controller, Sr. Accountants, and other accounting staff.
• Mission: The Accounting Intern ensures the accurate and timely completion of various accounting tasks to support the company’s operational efficiency and financial commitments.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Prepare schedules and reports to support cash management, budgets, and account reconciliations and analysis.
• Maintain: Maintain and update supporting documentation, such as fixed assets schedules.
• Assist: Assist with all aspects of accounting and the preparation of financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in a multi-company environment.
• Review: Review financial data for accuracy; identify problems and support day-to-day operations.
• Research: Research and reconcile discrepancies and verify documents as prescribed by accounting procedures and policies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Working toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting. Entry-Level.
• Experience: No prior professional experience explicitly required; the role is for a student.
• Skills: High attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to maintain information confidentiality and discretion, GPA of 3.25 or higher, authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Bonus: 1-2 years remaining in degree program preferred.
