Accounting Internship | Fervo Energy

The Tone:
This is an internship at Fervo Energy, located in In-person Houston, TX. Fervo Energy is focused on developing next-generation geothermal power, delivering firm, carbon-free energy at scale, with its flagship Cape Station development located in Milford, Utah. As an Accounting Intern, you will be integral to supporting core accounting operations, ranging from close activities to audit support, while contributing to the acceleration of Fervo’s accounting organization towards an AI-first finance function. This role offers hands-on exposure to managing financial books within a fast-growing energy company, ensuring accurate and scalable financial reporting. Interns at Fervo are assigned a real project to drive for 12 weeks and present their work to executive leadership, department leads, and fellow interns, gaining a real seat at the table.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Provide assistance with month-end and quarter-end close activities.
• Prepare: Develop reconciliations and journal entries.
• Analyze: Aid in account analysis and the explanation of financial fluctuations.
• Document: Support external audit requests and contribute to SOX documentation.
• Research: Participate in technical accounting research initiatives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, MIS, Computer Science, or Data Analytics, suitable for a Rising Junior, Senior, Master’s/MBA candidate wrapping up within the next year, or PhD candidate. This role is part of a pipeline towards full-time offers.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are required. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to stakeholders and leadership. Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and adapt quickly to new challenges are essential.
