Revenue Intern (Summer 2027) | Relay
The Tone:
This is an internship at Relay, located in Raleigh, NC. Relay builds the Intelligent System of Action for the physical economy, transforming analog frontline operations into a data-rich, AI-powered ecosystem for the 80% of the global workforce that doesn’t work at a desk. This role matters by contributing to the core financial operations, ensuring ASC 606 compliance, improving revenue reporting, and streamlining processes for a rapidly scaling tech company.

• Mission: Support revenue recognition compliance, redesign internal revenue reporting, and improve manual processes within revenue accounting.
• Tech Stack: Excel, NetSuite (preferred)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Assist the Revenue Accounting team with ASC 606 compliance, deferred revenue analysis, and month-end close processes, learning Relay’s products and the order-to-cash cycle.
• Review: Examine sales orders, customer contracts, and invoices to understand and apply ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance for both standard and non-standard arrangements.
• Redesign: Partner with the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting on a cross-functional initiative to redesign internal revenue reporting, evaluating existing structures and delivering scalable, improved reports aligned with business performance tracking.
• Collaborate: Engage with cross-functional partners in Sales, Customer Success, and Legal to address contract and order questions, observing real-world revenue accounting operations in a B2B environment.
• Optimize: Execute a defined project to identify a recurring manual process within revenue accounting and either build a tool to automate it, conduct a deep analytical review to improve it, or develop documentation/training materials.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Accounting major entering their final year (rising senior), or a recent graduate who will begin a Master’s in Accounting program in the fall following the internship.
• Experience: Comfort working in Excel and an interest in using AI tools for data analysis.
• Skills: Attention to detail, a solution-oriented mindset, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a curious, self-motivated approach comfortable with asking questions.
• Bonus: Exposure to accounting coursework covering ASC 606 and any familiarity with NetSuite or other ERP systems.
