Accounting Intern | Genworth

This is a 12-week internship at Genworth, located in Raleigh, NC, with a hybrid schedule. Genworth, operating primarily through its wholly owned subsidiaries, is a leading publicly traded U.S. private mortgage insurance provider that helps lenders and partners enable people to achieve and maintain homeownership. As an Accounting Intern, you will provide cutting-edge ideas and skills that drive business success, gaining hands-on experience by supporting financial reporting and compliance objectives. This role is a critical component of the company’s talent pipeline.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Assist with Month-End: Aid in month-end close activities, SOX control testing, reconciliations, and ad hoc projects supporting financial reporting and compliance objectives.
• Support Financial Processes: Contribute to financial reporting, accounting, and compliance processes through data analysis, documentation, testing, and research activities.
• Gain Industry Exposure: Learn accounting, regulatory, and compliance requirements specific to a highly regulated industry.
• Collaborate for Understanding: Work with cross-functional stakeholders to develop a broad understanding of the finance and mortgage insurance industry.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Rising Senior or Graduate student pursuing an Accounting degree, intending to pursue a CPA license, and possessing a strong foundation in GAAP concepts.
• Experience: Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Skills: Analytical thinking, problem-solving, critical thinking, self-motivation, attention to detail, teamwork, strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal).
• Bonus: Curiosity, adaptability, eagerness to learn in a professional environment, positive attitude, and willingness to embrace new challenges.
