Accounting & Finance Intern – Columbus, OH and nearby areas | American Electric Power

The TL;DR

• Location: In-person Columbus, OH and nearby areas
• Pay: $22–$27 hourly
• Team: Accounting and Finance team
• Mission: Support accounting and finance tasks and participate in technology-driven transformation projects.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), accounting software

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
• Record Keeping: Help maintain accurate financial records and databases.
• Closing Processes: Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Reconciliation: Participate in the reconciliation of accounts.
• Data Analysis: Conduct data analysis and assist with budgeting activities and technology-driven transformation projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level position, currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: Familiarity with accounting software.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills; Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
