2027 Accounting & Finance Development Program | BioSpace

The Tone:
This is a full-time development program at AbbVie, initially based in Lake County, IL, with potential for rotations in other US or global locations. AbbVie is dedicated to discovering and delivering innovative medicines and solutions that solve serious health issues across key therapeutic areas, including immunology, oncology, neuroscience, and Allergan Aesthetics. This program is designed to prepare individuals for future accounting and financial management roles by developing exceptional functional and leadership traits through comprehensive rotational experiences.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Development: Cultivate exceptional functional and leadership traits through work on a wide range of projects across various business areas.
• Rotations: Complete distinct professional work assignments within finance areas such as Financial Analysis, Budgets, Plans Forecasting, Reporting & Controls, and Manufacturing Operations Accounting.
• Exposure: Gain experience and provide financial support to different business functions, including Commercial, Operations, Research & Development, and Corporate.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Build business acumen and participate in key training sessions while working in a matrix environment.
• Specialization: Contribute to specific corporate finance functions like Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Finance Shared Services, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, Tax and Global Trade Compliance, or Treasury.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level, Bachelor’s degree in finance and/or accounting with an expected graduation date between December 2026 – August 2027.
• Experience: Successful completion of at least three accounting courses (3 credit hours each) by graduation, including one focused on cost or managerial accounting, and demonstrated leadership experience within a school or student organization setting.
• Skills: Proven capability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences, utilization of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and willingness to relocate outside of Lake County, IL for rotations.
• Bonus: Dual major or minor in a related field. Experience utilizing systems and tools for data visualization and meaningful presentation, and proficiency in handling data analysis with robust analytics or predictive modeling. Completion of an accredited Excel or data visualization tool certificate program, demonstrated project management ability, collaborative teamwork, adaptability, and high ethical standards. Cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
