Accounting Clerk | Bethel University

The Tone:
This is a full-time, in-person Accounting Clerk role at Bethel University, located in Arden Hills, MN. Bethel University is a leader in Christ-centered higher education, serving approximately 4,700 students across various undergraduate, graduate, and seminary programs. In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the daily accounting operations across different university departments. • Mission: Maintain accurate financial records and support day-to-day accounting operations to ensure life-changing student experiences for students.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Functions: Perform account reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy.
• Financial Transactions: Process invoices, expense reports, and other financial transactions accurately.
• Accounts Receivable: Execute the deposit and accurate recording of checks and coordinate the posting of bank account activity.
• Accounts Payable: Prepare journal entries, manage expense adjustments, and conduct accounts payable reviews and approvals.
• Financial Reporting: Assist in critical month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing and submitting reports to outside agencies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school education complemented by post-high school training or coursework in accounting or bookkeeping.
• Experience: At least 1 year of related accounting or bookkeeping experience, with 2+ years preferred.
• Skills: Proven self-starter and detail-oriented, effective oral and written communication, strong organizational and prioritization abilities, capable of independent and team work, professional handling of confidential information, and effective inter-departmental collaboration.
• Bonus: Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or Banner Finance, working knowledge of a Student Information System, and familiarity with GAAP and financial reporting.
