The Tone:
This is a fully remote, hands-on accounting and finance role based in the United States, supporting a fast-growing organization. The position is critical for managing essential day-to-day financial operations. It offers the opportunity to take ownership of key processes across accounts payable, sales tax compliance, and monthly close activities, while applying strong accounting fundamentals to solve problems and improve operational workflows. As the organization scales, this role will be instrumental in introducing greater structure, efficiency, and consistency across its finance operations, making a meaningful impact in a dynamic, technology-driven setting.

• Mission: This person will own key financial operations processes across accounts payable, sales tax compliance, and monthly close activities to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely execution within a scaling organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounts Payable Management: Support the full accounts payable process, encompassing vendor onboarding, meticulous invoice review, efficient payment processing, and thorough AP reconciliations.
• Sales Tax Compliance: Manage all state sales tax filings, ensuring submissions are consistently accurate, entirely complete, and delivered punctually within required deadlines.
• Sales Tax Registration: Coordinate and facilitate sales tax registrations effectively as the organization strategically expands its presence into new states and diverse jurisdictions.
• Month-End Close: Assist comprehensively with the monthly financial close activities, including precise account reconciliations, amortization calculations, accruals, and other related accounting tasks.
• Process Optimization: Identify proactive opportunities to strengthen existing accounting controls, streamline operational workflows, and implement improvements to processes as the business continues to scale.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This role requires a mid-level professional with 3–6 years of relevant accounting or finance experience, demonstrating a strong foundation in core accounting principles.
• Experience: Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience working within a high-growth organization, coupled with demonstrated ownership and independence, enabling progress in evolving environments.
• Skills: Essential skills include strong organizational capabilities, exceptional attention to detail, robust problem-solving and analytical abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication for effective collaboration.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include experience with state sales tax processes and registrations, working within a technology startup or rapidly scaling organization, experience building or improving accounting processes and controls, CPA certification, or fluency in Mandarin.
