The TL;DR

• Mission: This role is responsible for supporting the preparation, review, and analysis of financial data, reporting, and company consolidations for ALLETE and its affiliates.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Data Management: You will assist with the preparation, processing, review, analysis, and maintenance of various accounting entries, financial data, and transactions for ALLETE and its affiliates.
• Regulatory Compliance: You will apply departmental policies and practices to assure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Policy Documentation: You will participate in the documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
• External Reporting: You will assist in the preparation of various external regulatory reports and filings, including those for MPUC, FERC, and IRS.
• System Support: You will participate in the design, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of new or existing accounting systems.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree in accounting is strongly preferred, or an equivalent degree with applicable accounting coursework will be considered. Candidates obtaining their bachelor’s degree by December 31, 2026 are encouraged to apply. This is an entry-level accounting position.
• Experience: No previous professional experience is required for this position.
• Skills: Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required to establish and maintain effective relationships.
