• Team: Utility Accounting team
• Mission: Support day-to-day accounting, month-end close, regulatory reporting, and financial analysis to ensure accurate financial results and compliance for the utility.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, SAP (preferred), Power Plant (preferred), Allegro (preferred)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support Daily Operations: Prepare journal entries, reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts, and research account variances to identify financial differences.
• Manage Month-End Close: Contribute to successful completion of monthly accounting activities, ensuring complete and accurate financial information and resolving discrepancies.
• Contribute to Regulatory Reporting: Prepare reports filed with regulatory agencies such as FERC and the FPSC, and assist with data requests for audits and utility rate cases.
• Aid Financial Planning: Contribute to the development of financial budgets and forecasts, analyze accounts, and assist with ad hoc financial reporting and special projects.
• Foster Collaboration: Gain exposure to and collaborate with various internal departments like Finance, Regulatory Accounting, and Internal Audit, as well as external auditors and regulatory organizations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a regionally accredited college or university, or a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a financially related field. Entry-level career position with a strong accounting foundation.
• Experience: No previous financial work experience is required.
• Skills: Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP; proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong analytical skills; self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.
• Bonus: One or more years of financial work experience with regulated utility accounting experience; knowledge of software/systems such as SAP, Power Plant, and Allegro.
