Accountant I/II | CIS

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at CIS, located in Wilsonville, OR, with hybrid flexibility after an initial training period. CIS provides essential risk management, insurance, and related services to public entities throughout Oregon. • Mission: To support CIS’ financial operations and contribute to the organization’s commitment to exceptional service, stewardship, integrity, innovation, collaboration, and equity by managing detailed accounting work, financial recordkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and financial analysis.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Recordkeeping: Perform detailed accounting work, including financial recordkeeping and general ledger maintenance.
• Account Reconciliation: Conduct comprehensive account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Transaction Management: Manage accounts payable and receivable activities, including invoicing, collections, and vendor interactions.
• Operational Support: Provide essential payroll support and assist with audit preparation processes.
• Financial Analysis: Execute financial analysis, interpret data, and contribute to reporting to support informed decision-making.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (for Accountant I) or a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field (for Accountant II).
• Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of accounting experience (for Accountant I) or three (3) or more years of accounting experience (for Accountant II), including foundational knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, or general ledger activities, with some experience managing invoicing, collections, and financial reporting for the Accountant II role.
• Skills: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), proficiency in spreadsheet applications and accounting systems, strong analytical and reconciliation skills, and demonstrated customer service capabilities.
• Bonus: An eagerness to learn and grow, highly organized and detail-oriented work habits, strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills for various audiences, and a proactive approach to identifying efficiencies and strengthening internal controls.
