Accountant I – Accounts Payable | The Weitz Company

This Accountant I position is an integral part of the Accounts Payable team, ensuring efficient financial operations by meticulously processing payments, analyzing statements, and managing vendor inquiries. What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by reviewing submitted tickets and responding to inquiries from both internal project teams and external suppliers/vendors.
• Payment Management: Create payment groups, print checks, and accurately submit various electronic payments including wire transfers, ACH, and credit card transactions.
• Financial Reporting: Analyze daily bank statement activity and accurately summarize findings into reports for management review.
• Vendor and System Administration: Process updates for vendors, subcontractors, customers, and job details within the system, ensuring data accuracy and entry of purchase card coding.
• Month-End Support: Assist with critical month-end closing responsibilities and process all assigned daily and weekly financial reports accurately and on schedule.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level professional with foundational knowledge in basic accounting principles, suitable for someone early in their career.
• Experience: A minimum of 1 year of basic accounting experience gained in a professional setting, which can include full-time, part-time, or intern roles.
• Skills: Strong analytical capabilities with a keen eye for accuracy and attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication, paired with outstanding customer service abilities; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Bonus: A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is highly desired.
