Accountant I | DHI Mortgage

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at DHI Mortgage, a subsidiary of D.R. Horton, Inc., the largest homebuilder in the U.S. D.R. Horton was founded in 1978 and constructs high-quality homes, providing mortgage financing and title services to homebuyers. This role is essential for assisting in the creation and maintenance of financial records, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded to produce reliable financial reporting. The Accountant I will also be responsible for reconciling subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger, contributing to the overall financial integrity of the company.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Cost Accounting: Manage general cost accounting functions and other related financial duties.
• Record Management: Create and maintain accurate financial accounting records.
• Reporting Support: Compile financial data to assist in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
• Account Reconciliation: Perform various balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations.
• Month-End Processes: Participate in the monthly close and general ledger reconciliation activities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from a four-year college or university, with an understanding and ability to adhere to General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience: Zero to two years of related experience and/or training, including a basic understanding of the general ledger and month-end closing process.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; strong organizational and follow-through skills with detail orientation; ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality; proficiency with MS Office and email; analytical and organizational skills.
• Bonus: Mortgage lending experience; knowledge in title processes.
