This is an Accountant role at Venteon, located on the east side of metro Detroit. Our client is a growing real estate investment and development company focused on new construction and rehab projects. This role contributes to critical financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting and cost management for these developments. • Mission: This person is responsible for managing construction cost activity, preparing financial statements, and ensuring accurate financial reporting for real estate investment and development projects.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Construction Cost Tracking: Track construction cost activity using job cost reports, and manage billing and collection processes for multiple new-construction and rehab projects.
• Project Communication: Communicate regularly with construction project managers to obtain progress updates and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Lender Draw Preparation: Prepare and submit monthly construction draw requests to third-party lenders, substantiating expenditures and facilitating necessary borrowings.
• Financial Statement Generation: Prepare US GAAP financial statements, accurately applying percentage of completion accounting principles.
• Compliance & Special Projects: Prepare contractor cost certifications for submission to various states for low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) applications, and complete various special projects and assignments as needed.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. This is an early career role for an Accountant.
• Experience: 1 plus years of experience as an Accountant, with a focus on financial accounting and general ledger systems.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel and Word, excellent communication and analytical skills, highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Bonus: Experience with construction accounting is preferred.
