Financial Analyst | American Honda Motor Company, Inc.

The Tone:
This is an early career role at American Honda Motor Company, Inc., primarily based in an in-person, hybrid manufacturing and office environment. As a Financial Analyst, you will be instrumental in supporting the company’s financial planning and reporting functions. Your professional accounting knowledge and analytical skills will be critical in ensuring the accuracy of financial data, preparing detailed budget analyses, and advising management on financial performance and future activities. This role contributes directly to the creation of 6 annual budget events, impacting strategic financial decisions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Prepare month-end close activities, including analyzing financial information to create journal entries that impact the financial condition of AHM / HDMA, under supervision.
• Budget Analysis: Develop budget versus actual comparisons for assigned departments, applying professional accounting standards to ensure financial accuracy and advise management on future activities.
• Budget Creation: Collaborate with department managers and investment project leaders, using analytical skills and professional accounting knowledge, to create 6 budget events annually.
• Management Advising: Create and present financial information to department leaders, detailing budget to actual conditions and offering recommendations for improvement areas.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting or finance, OR an associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting-related job. This is an entry-level role requiring foundational knowledge of professional accounting standards.
• Experience: 0-2 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, or a minimum of 2 years of experience with an associate’s degree in an accounting-related field.
• Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, presentation, and organizational skills; proficiency in Microsoft products (Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge and skills with Specified Action Plan (SAP); and a general understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)/International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Cost accounting principles.
