Staff Accountant | CFS

What You’ll Actually Do
• Contract Documentation: Prepare comprehensive contract documentation for State, City, and Federal funding sources, ensuring accuracy and compliance with essential requirements.
• Financial Compliance: Complete required cost reports, manage funding drawdowns, and execute budget modifications precisely according to specific contract stipulations and deadlines.
• Expense Allocation: Audit monthly expense reports diligently to verify and ensure accurate cost allocations, maintaining transparency and accountability in financial records.
• General Ledger Operations: Record all contract-related financial activity and meticulously review general ledger balances as part of thorough month-end and year-end close processes.
• Reimbursement Strategy: Develop and maintain effective allocation methodologies for contract expenses, coordinating closely with program teams and funding agencies to maximize contract reimbursement.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a closely related field, providing a foundational understanding of financial principles. This role is suited for candidates at an entry-level career stage.
• Experience: 0-1 years of direct accounting or financial analysis experience, demonstrating initial practical exposure to financial operations.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, comprehensive knowledge of accounting software and financial systems, and practical experience working with Windows-based accounting applications. Effective written and verbal communication skills are also essential for collaboration and reporting.
