What You’ll Actually Do
• Bookkeeping & Transactions: Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, which includes accurately recording all financial transactions and diligently reconciling bank and credit card accounts to maintain the general ledger.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and carefully review financial statements, actively assisting with all aspects of month-end and quarter-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Compliance & Monitoring: Monitor accounts payable and receivable, provide support for cash flow tracking, and ensure continuous compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Documentation & Improvement: Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all financial records, and proactively suggest process improvements aimed at achieving greater efficiency and accuracy within finance operations.
• Internal Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders across the organization to provide essential financial reports, respond to inquiries, and contribute financial insights.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess an Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field, providing a foundational understanding of core accounting principles and practices.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience in general bookkeeping and with established accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar systems. Proficiency with spreadsheets for financial analysis and data management is also required.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting. Exhibit solid organizational and time-management skills, essential for meeting deadlines in a remote part-time capacity. Clear written and verbal communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with cross-functional teams and explaining complex financial information to non-finance colleagues.
• Bonus: Relevant professional certifications, such as a CPA or CMA, are considered a significant advantage. Prior experience working in a remote or distributed work setting is also beneficial.
