This Accountant position is a critical part of the team, directly contributing to the financial health and long-term success of the business by ensuring meticulous accuracy and comprehensive compliance across all accounting operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Operations Management: Oversee and manage all core day-to-day accounting activities, which includes efficiently processing accounts payable, diligently handling accounts receivable, maintaining accurate general ledger entries, and performing regular, thorough bank reconciliations.
• Financial Statement Preparation: Take responsibility for preparing and meticulously reviewing financial statements, ensuring they are precise, complete, and adhere to all relevant accounting standards and internal company policies.
• Budgetary Support and Compliance: Actively support the development of budgeting and forecasting initiatives, while also ensuring strict compliance with all pertinent accounting standards and established company financial policies.
• Financial Record Keeping and Audit Assistance: Maintain comprehensive and organized financial records, providing essential assistance with internal and external audits, and supporting all aspects of tax preparation processes.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely and collaboratively with operations staff to effectively align financial data with actual transportation activities, ensuring financial records accurately reflect business operations and contribute to overall operational excellence.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Strong foundational knowledge in general accounting principles is required, encompassing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations. A solid understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis is also essential to support informed business decisions. Knowledge of GAAP or comparable accounting standards is necessary, alongside a basic understanding of tax compliance and audit processes.
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency in using accounting software and ERP systems is critical. This role also requires solid Microsoft Excel skills for effective data analysis, reporting, and financial modeling.
• Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and effective time management skills are paramount, especially with the ability to manage multiple deadlines concurrently in a busy environment. Clear written and verbal communication skills are necessary for effective interaction, along with the ability to work collaboratively within both finance and operations teams.
• Bonus: Previous experience gained within the transportation, logistics, or a similar industry will be a beneficial qualification for this position.
