2026 Summer Engineering Internship / Co-Op | Tampa Electric Company
The Tone:
This is a summer engineering internship / co-op at Tampa Electric Company, located in Tampa, FL. Tampa Electric Company provides critical utility services to its community, playing a vital role during emergencies. This unique opportunity offers college students a chance to engage in network device testing and engineering design, directly contributing to the evaluation and improvement of critical network infrastructure. The selected student will gain hands-on experience in a multifaceted role central to the company’s operational excellence.
The TL;DR

• Type: Part-Time (20-30 hours)

• Mission: Evaluate and test network devices, and apply engineering skills to contribute to the design process.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Network Device Testing: Conduct rigorous testing and evaluation of network devices to ensure they meet performance and reliability standards, including hardware and software troubleshooting.
• Engineering Design Support: Collaborate with the engineering team to contribute to the design and development of new network devices or improvements to existing ones.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of testing procedures, results, and design modifications to support product development.
• Collaborative Contribution: Actively engage in team discussions, sharing insights and ideas to enhance network device performance and engineering design processes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled as an undergraduate (Junior or Senior) or graduate-level student in an accredited university engineering program.
• Experience: A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Enrollment in the university’s co-op program is required to qualify as a co-op student.
• Skills: Basic knowledge of network protocols, configurations, and devices; a solid foundation in engineering principles; analytical thinking to derive insights from data; and excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Bonus: Preferred discipline is Electrical Engineering.
