Job Description: 2026 Kickstart Internship Program

KJ is seeking ambitious achievers to join its 2026 Kickstart Internship Program. This internship is located in Federal Way, Washington.

Role and Responsibilities:
Interns will support project teams that provide solutions for critical issues in the water environment, transportation, and industrial sectors. These issues include:
Water resources
Water quality
Wastewater and water treatment
Pipeline and conveyance design
Recycled water planning and implementation

Interns will have opportunities to be involved in significant projects throughout the United States. Project involvement may encompass:
Fieldwork
Technical report preparation and calculations
Pre-construction conditions documentation
Design plans and specifications

A Day In The Life Of An Intern:
• Working on a variety of projects, applying learned skills and calculations from academic studies.
• Managing ongoing projects and communicating effectively with team members and clients.
• Attending and contributing to client meetings.
• Visiting project sites to gain practical experience.
• Receiving mentorship and advising from experienced professionals.
• Networking with employees and clients to build professional connections.

Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in:
Civil Engineering
Environmental Engineering
Chemical Engineering
• Completion of a minimum of sophomore (second-year) standing in an accredited engineering program.

Compensation and Benefits:
Pay rate: Anticipated to be $20 to $25 per hour, which may vary based on education, experience, qualifications, skills, licensure/certifications, seniority, geographic location, and performance.
Intern Benefits Summary: As a Kickstart intern, you will enjoy a benefits package designed to support your experience, including:
