Summer Internship at Scotiabank: U.S. Finance

This full-time internship runs from June 2025 to August 2025 in New York City.

The U.S. Finance Internship program at Scotiabank is designed to introduce undergraduate and graduate students to the dynamic world of global banking and brokerage. The U.S. Finance team plays a vital role in the overall success of Global Banking and Markets by providing accurate and timely reporting to various key stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Assist U.S. Finance staff with day-to-day operations.
• Execute research projects on an as-needed basis.
• Help the Controller develop procedures for month-end accounting close and financial statement preparation.
• Create presentations for the CEO, COO, and CFO, analyzing monthly, weekly, and quarterly balance sheet and income statement variances.
• Assist in gathering data for various Finance audits, including those conducted by U.S. regulators, Public Accountants, and internal audit.
• Contribute to the preparation of materials and participate in key monthly control forums with Compliance, Legal, Market Risk, the CEO, CFO, and COO.
• Work towards improving efficiency in manual spreadsheet-based reporting processes.

Qualifications:

Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Accounting, Science Technology, Engineering, Economics, or Math disciplines. Completion of the degree is expected between December 2025 and August 2026.
Strong academic record with outstanding achievements in extracurricular activities.
Independent thinker and decision-maker who can effectively contribute to a team.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for working in a client-facing environment.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
