Job Description: Search Evaluation PM Intern, 2025

This internship position is for a Search Evaluation Product Manager (PM) Intern within the TikTok Search team.

Team Introduction:
The TikTok Search team is a global unit dedicated to providing users with access to the world’s information and creative content through a simple click. A critical aspect of their work is evaluation, which assesses the quality of search results to enhance the user experience. As a Search Evaluation PM, the intern will contribute to defining the optimal user experience and implementing a global evaluation plan. This role involves providing independent, objective, and accurate evaluation viewpoints. Insights derived from evaluation and research data will be crucial in helping the product development team understand user needs and optimize the product continuously. The team’s daily activities encompass user research, data analysis, and project management.

Internship Program Overview:
This is a 12-week internship program scheduled to begin in May/June 2025. It aims to offer students significant industry exposure and hands-on experience, helping them develop fundamental skills and explore potential career paths. The program also features social events and development workshops. Candidates are expected to commit to one of the specified summer internship start dates: May 12, May 19, May 27 (Memorial Day May 26), June 9, or June 23, 2025. Priority will be given to candidates who can commit to these dates, and applicants should clearly state their availability (start and end dates) in their resume. Candidates can apply to a maximum of two positions globally across TikTok and its affiliates, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis, encouraging early submission.

Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for:
• Improving TikTok search user experience by developing and executing evaluation and research plans for various product functions, content, and algorithm strategies.
• Providing actionable insights to cross-functional teams for future product iterations, based on evaluation results, data analysis, market research, and user research.
• Collaborating with the international operations team to facilitate the implementation of research and evaluation plans, ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of deliverables.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Qualifications:
• Profound knowledge of search products and search engines, along with an understanding of basic research and evaluation methodologies.
• Strong logical thinking, deep user empathy, and acumen in data analysis.
• Capability to independently develop project plans, oversee team execution, and perform risk management to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope with adequate resource allocation.
• Strong sense of responsibility, excellent communication skills, solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities.

• Preferred Qualifications:
• An educational background in Statistics, Data Analysis, Mathematics, or Economics is considered a plus.

Job Information:

• Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $55.
• Benefits: Interns receive day-one access to health insurance, life insurance, and wellbeing benefits. They also get 10 paid holidays per year and paid sick time (56 hours if hired in the first half of the year, 40 hours if hired in the second half). Interns not working 100% remote may also be eligible for housing allowance. Benefits are subject to change.
