Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries (KGM) is a privately funded 501(c)3 non-profit, evangelical Christian ministry. Its designated purpose is religious, serving as a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to sharing the Gospel and helping the homeless and impoverished. KGM considers every position essential in the fulfillment of its ministry and statement of purpose, requiring each employee to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.

The ministry operates as a nicotine-free environment. All applicants are expected to feel comfortable in a Christian environment, with all staff members participating in prayer and Bible Study. A lifestyle of prayer and worship is integrated into day-to-day job functions, and staff are expected to be comfortable with this integration. The organization’s culture is desired to be grace-based, affirming and advancing KGM’s vision and purpose.

Job Description: Internship

The internship at Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries is for applicants who are qualified, genuinely love people, serve as role models, and desire to spread the good news (gospel). A personal relationship with Jesus Christ is a bona fide occupational qualification.

Essential Functions (may be determined by supervisor and change based on internship goals):
• Uphold, promote, and encourage the desired organizational culture and values, specifically aiming to establish and maintain a culture based on grace that affirms and advances KGM’s vision and purpose.
Build relationships with KGM guests.
• Perform one-on-one relational discipleship and biblical counseling with assigned guests to foster growth and spiritual maturity.
• Provide crisis intervention and case management assistance for assigned guests and others as needed.
Teach class(es) within the long-term program.
• Communicate the expectations and guidelines of the long-term program to assigned guests and hold them accountable to the standard.
Model a distinctive Christian walk that demonstrates one’s personal relationship with God, liberated through Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
• Help assigned guests identify and achieve an individualized pathway addressing physical health, mental health, social, emotional, employment, and spiritual needs.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required:
Highly ethical with the ability to make smart, timely decisions.
• Practical knowledge of the Bible.
• Ability to maintain calm in tense situations and circumstances.
• Be able and willing to share the Gospel and participate in all ministry activities of Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries.

• Be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
