Job Description: Hardware Engineer Intern (Fall 2025)

This internship role is for a Hardware Engineer Intern joining the Engineering team for the Fall 2025 term, with a focus on hardware design. The position operates out of the company’s New York City headquarters.

Key Focus & Contribution:
The intern will primarily focus on research and development of new products, leading improvements to existing products, and contributing to overall systems solutions. A critical aspect of the role involves helping to develop Wave Relay Product solutions specifically for Department of Defense (DOD) customers. The intern will also play a significant role in identifying customer needs through interaction with the systems team and contribute to the development of product solutions. The role involves managing projects with various functions, working with both on-site and remote teams.

Position Responsibilities (Detailed Tasks):

Requirements Management:
Managing, deriving, and capturing Product/Program requirements.
• This includes defining mechanical and electrical interface design specifications, component requirements, and creating functional block diagrams.
Testing Support:
• Providing support for both software and hardware testing processes.
Project Facilitation:
Supporting and facilitating various engineering projects, such as new product/solution development, implementing product changes, and assisting with customer integration.
Change Management:
• Supporting the change management process to ensure all necessary actions are completed and that communication with key stakeholders is maintained.
Documentation:
• Ensuring quality documentation is updated or created as required, including the development of technical manuals.
Rapid Development:
Providing support and delivering solutions for rapid development projects.
Document Updates:
Modifying and updating requirements documents as needed.
Design Drawings:
Coordinating the preparation of design drawings, including their necessary updates.
Project Scheduling:
Supporting and facilitating project scheduling activities.

Job Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Academic Progress: Must have successfully completed at least two years of the degree program.
Coursework Requirements:
• Successfully completed at least one course in engineering design.
• Successfully completed at least one course in RF (Radio Frequency) theory.
Security Clearance: Must either possess a United States security clearance or have the ability to obtain a United States security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior Internship Experience:
• Prior internship experience with Product Development.
• Prior internship experience with systems development, evaluation, and requirements capture.
• Prior internship experience with Systems engineering and networking.
Technical Knowledge:
• Knowledge of audio/video encoder/decoders and their interfaces.

Compensation:

The pay for this internship role will range from $25 to $30 per hour, with the exact rate determined based on the selected individual’s experience.
