Job Description: Internship – Account Analyst – Revenue Fall 2025
This internship position for an Account Analyst is within Norfolk Southern’s Revenue Accounting Operations group, located in Atlanta, GA. The internship is scheduled for the Fall semester for a duration of 12 weeks.
As an Account Analyst Intern, you will play an integral role in the Norfolk Southern business team, primarily responsible for the management of the company’s accounts receivable. Interns serve as one of the main contacts for customers and are expected to manage accounts with combined receivables ranging from $10-$20 million. The role requires strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to effectively resolve issues and protect revenue.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Verify the accuracy of Norfolk Southern invoicing for revenue earned from rail operations.
• Build and maintain relationships through providing exceptional customer service.
• Identify and implement process improvements related to billing and collections issues, collaborating with other departments for testing and enhancements.
• Utilize analytical tools to identify trends concerning traffic, customers, invoices, and payments.
• Interact with various internal departments (e.g., Transportation and Marketing) and other railroads to research and resolve disputes.
• Provide comprehensive updates to the management team and relevant stakeholders regarding customers’ accounts.
• Actively participate in personal professional development as guided by the management team.

Internship Requirements and Compensation:
• Candidates must be available to work full-time during regular business hours.
• Only candidates enrolled part-time in classes that do not interfere with a typical business day schedule will be accepted.
• Applicants should be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.
• Preferred Degree Paths include Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, and Management, with other majors in similar fields of study also considered.
• Candidates must have in-depth knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office software.
Bi-weekly Compensation based on academic year:
• Freshman Year: $1,646
• Sophomore Year: $1,775
• Junior Year: $1,908
• Senior Year: $1,992
• Masters Year: $2,383
Work Conditions:
• The primary work environment is an office setting.
• The role follows a hybrid model: three days in the office and two days remote.
• Travel required is minimal, estimated at 0-1 days per month.
