Job Description
Job Title: Summer Associate
Location: San Francisco office
Department: Litigation Department
Target Hiring: 2026 Summer Associate (for rising second-year law students)
Job Responsibilities:
Summer Associates provide substantive support to attorneys through:
• Legal research
• Writing
• Discovery
• Other substantive tasks
In the San Francisco office, Summer Associates will gain exposure to a variety of assignments across the litigation department, including practices in:
• Complex Disputes
• Labor & Employment
• Government Investigations & White Collar Defense
• Real Estate and Construction
• Privacy and Technology
Program Benefits & Support:
• Receiving substantive feedback and mentoring on assignments.
• Access to various training programs throughout the duration of the program.
Compensation:
The anticipated salary for this position in San Francisco is $4,134.00 per week. This is Nixon Peabody’s good faith estimate at the time of posting, in accordance with applicable Federal and State laws.
Work Arrangement:
This is a hybrid position with an expectation of four days in the office.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will be:
• Rising second-year law students.
• Possess a demonstrated interest and/or experience in litigation.
• Have strong academic credentials (3.0 GPA or higher).
• Exhibit superb judgment and communication skills.
• Demonstrate excellent legal writing skills.
• Show a commitment to teamwork and excellent client service.
