Job Description: Construction Project Manager Intern

This is an exciting 12-week summer internship program offered by Trane Technologies, designed to provide participants with hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of a career in Construction Project Management. The program focuses on solutions that contribute to building efficiency and sustainability, particularly through the company’s Equipment, Service, or Controls/Building Automation offerings.

The internship aims to challenge and develop participants’ technical, business, leadership, and communication skills. Interns will gain insight into the Construction Project Management field, with a focus on creating energy-efficient buildings for customers. This role involves working on all aspects of construction projects, carrying responsibility for project execution while collaborating closely with an experienced Project Manager to achieve objectives within defined timelines and available resources. Successful completion of this internship provides valuable experience for a career in Construction Project Management and offers a potential pathway to join Trane Technologies’ industry-leading Graduate Training Program (GTP) after graduation.

Work Location: This specific position has been designated as On-Site. While Trane Technologies may offer various opportunities that are remote or this role requires an on-site presence.

What you will do:
As a Construction Project Manager Intern, you will have the opportunity to experience and assist in various crucial project management tasks, including:

Planning and coordination: Establishing schedules, project parameters, and procedures to achieve system objectives. This may involve generating tasks, estimates, dependencies, milestones, CPM Analysis, and Histogram Analysis.
Engineering support: Working directly with the engineering team to support activities related to engineering programming and material selection for projects.
Budget management assistance: Helping to establish and maintain an operations budget for assigned projects by revising original estimates based on validated project scope and monitoring the accuracy of forecasted costs by managing expenses.
Sub-contractor collaboration: Collaborating on preparations for sub-contractor Requests for Quotations (RFQ), including developing scope statements, plans, milestone dates, specifications, bonding requirements, and billing schedules of values.
Sub-contractor oversight: Receiving and qualifying subcontractor proposals, and assisting in supervising the work of project-assigned staff, subcontractors, and installers.
Communication: Interacting with contractors, subcontractors, and owners to discuss project scope, budgets, performance, and close-out. You will also communicate with other team members regarding problems, obstacles, issues, and information needs.

What You Will Bring:

Academic Enrollment: Must be actively enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program throughout the entire duration of the summer internship.
Academic Standing: Candidates must have completed at least their sophomore or second year of studies before the start of the summer internship to be eligible.
Preferred Degrees: A degree in Construction Engineering, Building Management, Construction Management, or an equivalent field is strongly preferred.
Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of construction management processes, means, and methods.
Work Authorization: Must be a U.S. citizen or possess the legal right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
Driver’s License: Possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, be able to provide proof of insurance, and have no major or frequent traffic violations within the previous 3 years. This includes, but is not limited to, DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions.

Compensation:
The pay range for this role is $22.68 – $32.40 per hour. Total compensation for this role will also include a commission/incentive plan. Please note that this base pay range is based on US national averages, and actual base pay may vary based on factors such as seniority, merit, and the geographic location where the work is performed.
