Job Description: Engineering Intern
As an Engineering Intern at Jacobs, you will play a crucial role in transforming intangible ideas into innovative solutions and contributing to the design of the future. Key Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities:
• Project Support: Provide essential support to professional engineering teams and project managers on critical projects.
• Exposure to Project Coordination: Gain hands-on experience in coordinating various aspects of projects.
• Software Application: Learn and apply relevant computer-assisted engineering software.
• Data Collection: Participate in the collection of necessary project data.
• Impact: Contribute to solving real-life challenges and impacting the world around you.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Education: Currently enrolled in or recently completed an LACCD (Los Angeles Community College District) program.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills is required.
• Professional Judgment: Attention to detail and the ability to exercise good professional judgment is required.
• Interaction: Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management regarding project activity is required.
• Technical Skills (Preferred): Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint is preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The role involves various physical activities and potential exposure to different work environments:
• Movement: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting.
• Lifting: Lifting requirements are limited to 20 lbs. (e.g., supplies, drawings), carried for a longest distance of 50 feet.
• Hand Manipulation: Required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation, utilizing both right and/or left hands.
• Reaching: Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder (for supplies) as well as below the shoulder.
• Foot Controls: No foot controls are necessary.
• Field Work/Travel: Must be alert to equipment in the field. There will be occasional travel.
• Job Site Environment: Occasional work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground.
• Exposure: Potential exposure to dust, gas or fumes, noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
Salary:
• The typical salary range for this position is $18.50 hourly, commensurate with experience relative to the position.
