About the Job Description
Job Title: Radiology Technologist Student Extern
Location: Woodbridge, VA (Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center)
Work Shift: This is a Flexi, Rotating shift opportunity.
Overview and Responsibilities:
The Radiology Technologist Student Extern performs various radiological imaging studies under the direct supervision of a registered Radiologic Technologist and the direction of a qualified physician. The scope of work, within demonstrated competency, includes:
• Performing chest, abdominal, extremity, and spine radiological imaging studies of patients.
• Operating radiology equipment.
• Developing films.
• Preparing the patient room and equipment.
• Providing clinical support, including clinical documentation.
• Performing clinical duties such as managing IV lines and lab work.
Qualifications:
• For Student Technologist Roles (Radiology Assistant applicants): Must be currently enrolled and have completed 2 semesters of formal education that is accredited by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
• For Non-Student Technologist Roles: Requires 2 years of patient care management experience. (Note: This specific job is for a “Student Extern”, so the student enrollment criteria is primary for this role).
• BLS Certification: Required within 90 days of hire for all incumbents.
• IV Therapy Certification: Required within 90 days of hire for all incumbents.
