Job Description: Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)

As a patient care professional at ERC Pathlight, the Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is an integral part of a team that delivers hands-on treatment, therapy sessions, and/or support to patients in one of the centers around the nation. The BHT works under the supervision of the Nursing department and is primarily responsible for the direct care of inpatient and residential patients by providing patient supervision and support.

Key Responsibilities and Daily Service to Patients:

Milieu Management:
• Maintains daily program structure by adhering to the program schedule.
• Completes observation rounds and safety checks as ordered by a physician.
• Works with patients on de-escalation techniques and implementation of coping skills as per their treatment plan.
• Provides patient transportation as needed for medical appointments (may vary by location and program).
• Takes patient vital signs, weights, and urine Specific Gravity (may vary by location and program).
• Performs other nursing support duties as assigned.
• Acts as a secondary support staff in group therapy (may vary by location and program).
• Assists with morning routine and Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) while patients are in the spa/bathroom.
Meal Support and Bathroom Monitoring: Includes flush checks for patients in eating disorder programs.
Documentation: Completes documentation of patient observations, meals, and individual check-ins that occur during the shift.

Required Qualifications:

BHT I Must Haves:
High School Graduate/GED (Required)
Associate’s Degree (Preferred)
Valid driver’s license with safe driving record (Required)
Psych Tech or CNA experience (Preferred)
6+ months of direct patient care/milieu experience (preferred)

BHT II Must Haves:
High School Graduate/GED (Required)
Bachelor’s degree (Preferred)
1 year of Behavioral Health experience (Required)
Valid driver’s license with safe driving record (Required)
Minimum of 1 year of ERC milieu experience (for internal teammates only)

Compensation:
• The starting compensation range for the Behavioral Health Technician role is $18.25 to $22.00 an hour. Ranges are based upon market expectations and are dependent upon candidate experience.
