Job Description:

This is a six-month paid interior design internship at Olson Kundig open to interior design students and recent graduates from around the world. The internship aims to provide experience and exposure to various aspects of interior design practice.

Intern Responsibilities:

• Assist project teams in different project phases using skills in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and hand sketching to produce working and presentation drawings.
• Assist with research and selection of furniture and finishes.
• Attend construction site visits, in-office speaker series, weekly design critiques, and Interiors Studio meetings.
• Meet with vendors, organize vendor presentations, and maintain the sample library.

Detailed Duties May Include:

Sample Library: Organize and update information and price lists.
Drawing/Drafting: Create floor plans and furniture plans using Revit and AutoCAD.
Sketching: Hand sketch and color 3-dimensional images of interiors and furniture.
Research: Conduct research for materials, furniture, and photographic images.
Image Editing: Download and edit images from websites and catalogs for use in Revit, Photoshop, or InDesign presentations.
Administrative Tasks: Update and file paperwork, organize client files, prepare transmittals, and package/mail samples/correspondence.
Vendor Communication: Communicate with sales representatives/showrooms to research pricing, spec sheets, and stock checks.
Errands: Pick-up/deliver items between various locations and the Olson Kundig office.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Interior Design (preferably CIDA accredited).
• Strong interest in a career in interior design.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Windows-based software.
• Strong conceptual, communication, and organizational skills.
• General knowledge of current furniture, material, and building finish products.
• Knowledge in LEED requirements is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Capable of climbing, standing and working on a 6’-0” ladder.

Additional Information:

• Interns from countries outside the U.S. are responsible for obtaining the necessary paperwork to work in the U.S. (the firm will provide an offer of employment letter).
