Position Summary:
This is a Fall Internship position within the Computational Epidemiology Lab within the Innovation and Digital Health Accelerator (IDHA) to support Global.health. Global.health is a collaborative effort focused on building a trusted resource of real-time infectious disease data during outbreaks, tracking cases for the first 100 days. The 100 Days Mission aims to provide early situational awareness and fill a critical gap in the continuum of data during outbreaks. The open-source platform offers insight into infectious disease surveillance efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work closely with project managers to understand the scope and timeline of outbreak response.
• Compile epidemiological outbreak data from open sources to create standardized line-list datasets. Integrate various data types including animal outbreak data, genomic data, wastewater data, climate data, and response data.
• Contribute to sourcing strategies to find trusted media sources and vet relevant outbreak information.
• Apply methods and best practices to ensure high-quality data.
• Assist with project status updates with partner organizations through newsletters and other communications.
• Provide occasional ad hoc support to other IDHA projects.
Education:
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in epidemiology, statistics, public health, or a related field.
Experience:
• Familiarity with epidemiology, data entry, and analysis.
• Technical proficiency in MS Office required; Familiarity with Google Drive, Slack, and Github preferred.
