The Volkert Internship Program (VIP) is designed for undergraduate students to explore their career field within Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Computer Aided Design (CAD), or Civil Engineering Technology.

Job Description:

Role: Intern (Volkert Internship Program – VIP)
Objective: To provide undergraduate students with practical experience and exposure to the engineering and construction industries.
Location: Any of Volkert’s offices (no relocation or housing assistance provided).
Duration: Offered during the summer, with potential consideration during the fall or spring semester based on office needs.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Explore the industry and your major field.
• Learn systems, processes, and best practices.
• Receive project assignments or job duties related to your major.
• Learn business and office etiquette.
• Understand safety procedures in the field.
• Present your project or experience to leadership at the end of the internship.

What You Need To Have:

• Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student.
• Sophomore standing recommended (Freshman standing considered with STEM or leadership program involvement).
• Minimum 2.50 undergraduate GPA.
• Enrolled in a degree-seeking program in:
• Civil Engineering
• Structural Engineering
• Construction Management
• Computer Aided Design (CAD)
• Civil Engineering Technology
• Preference for 40 hours per week (plus overtime, if necessary), with a minimum of 30 hours per week during the summer. Hours may vary during the spring or fall.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Valid driver’s license.
