Job Description:
FlatironDragados’s Intern Program offers challenging and rewarding work opportunities for college students majoring in Civil Engineering and Construction Management. As an Estimating Intern, you’ll apply your academic training and skills in a real-world setting, assisting the estimating team in preparing estimates for assigned construction disciplines.
What You Will Be Doing:
• Aids in reviewing proposal specifications, drawings, and attending pre-bid meetings to help determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
• Assists in reviewing historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity analysis reports to develop unit and person-hour figures.
• Supports the estimating team by helping to prepare discipline estimates, including calculating a complete takeoff of the scope of work. Assists in calculating material quantity requirements from engineering drawing dimensions.
• Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Assists with design review options and recommends the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or material availability.
• Partners with the estimating team to prepare and conduct project hand-off meetings between the pursuit team and the project management team.
• Researches and recommends vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve pursuit and cost goals.
• Maintains knowledge of the Company’s values and strategic plan.
• Supports published corporate policies.
• Performs additional assignments per management’s direction.
What We Are Looking For:
• Estimating interns/co-ops are required to be currently enrolled in Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar program at an accredited technical college or university.
• This will be a 4-month co-op in our Richmond office starting September 2, 2025, and ending December 19, 2025.
