About the Job:
BJC is seeking a Medicine/Pulmonary Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality care for patients experiencing acute medical conditions. This role involves working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver timely and effective treatment. This position is within the Acute Care Medicine unit, which manages patients with a range of clinical issues, including blood dyscrasias, endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, asthma, and cystic fibrosis. The unit is supported by a multidisciplinary team, including a clinical manager, lead charge nurse, advanced practice nurse, case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist.

Responsibilities:
• Provides direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, adhering to nursing care standards.
• Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Educates patients and families on managing illnesses or injuries, including post-treatment home care needs and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participates in professional development activities.
• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patient, family, or caregiver.
• Ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
Minimum Requirements:
• Education: Nursing Diploma/Associate’s in Nursing
• Experience: No experience required.
• Licenses & Certifications: RN
Preferred Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
