The County of Los Angeles is seeking a Career Development Intern in the Office and Clerical Support area. This is a temporary position with a salary of $48,024.00 annually. The position is designed as a structured on-the-job training assignment to prepare individuals for progression into a specific occupational field. Interns will receive technical job training and guidance on workplace behavior, competencies, individual responsibilities, and development of occupational skill sets.

Responsibilities:

• Functioning as clerical support in various settings, filing, sorting, and arranging documents.
• Assisting the public by providing directions, instructions, and responses to routine inquiries.
• Operating telephone computerized systems, consoles, switchboards, or other automated communication systems.
• Using keyboarding skills to prepare documents, letters, or reports.
• Processing work through data entry on a computer.
• Receiving payments and issuing receipts.
• Occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds), bending, stooping, squatting, and walking may be required.

Requirements:

Applicants must meet one of the following SPECIALTY REQUIREMENTS:

Foster Youth Program: Current enrollment in, completion of, or current or past eligibility for the Department of Children and Family Services’ Independent Living Program and/or Probation Department’s Independent Living Program (ILP).
County Youth Bridges Opportunity Program: Identification as an At-Risk Youth by an authorized agency or non-profit organization.
Homeless Hiring Program: Individuals who are homeless or formerly homeless.
Disability Hiring Program: Must possess a certificate of Individuals Facing Barriers To Employment Program from the State Department of Rehabilitation (DOR).

In order to receive credit for the specialty program(s), you must attach proof of participation at the time of filing orwithin fifteen (15) calendar days from application submission.

Additional Information:

• The examination will consist of a multiple-choice test covering Learning Potential, Responsibility, Customer Focus, Working with Information, and Numerical Calculation.
• Applicants must receive a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination.
• Applications must be submitted online only.
• All County workforce members must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
