Mission: The Research!America alliance advocates for science, discovery, and innovation to achieve better health for all. They advocate for a federal policy climate that empowers the nation’s biomedical and health research sectors, accelerating medical progress.
Job Description: Science Communications Internship
This is a paid, temporary internship starting in July, with the possibility of telework. Interns support Research!America’s mission and objectives through communications-related tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
• Website Content Updates: Assist with basic updates to website content.
• Content Creation: Assist with creating content and graphics for blog posts and social media platforms.
• Presentation Support: Assist with presentations and preparations for speaking engagements.
• Writing and Editing: Write, proofread, fact-check, and edit newsletter articles, press materials, and emails for Research!America members.
• Media Analysis: Contribute to reports and analysis of media coverage.
• Strategic Input: Participate in communications strategy and program planning meetings.
• Event Support: Provide support for briefings, programs, and other events.
• Independent Project: Complete and present a self-directed project and final report on a science communications topic relevant to Research!America’s mission.
• Administrative Support: Provide administrative and project management support as requested.
• Other Duties: Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Strong academic background.
• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• Interest in medical and health research and related policy issues.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
• Experience with web content management systems (WordPress), blog software, graphic design (Canva), and social media is strongly preferred.
