Job Description: Consultant, ESG & Impact Transactions and Valuation

ERM’s ESG & Impact Value Creation team is seeking a Consultant with 2-3 years of investment banking experience. This role focuses on advising clients on the ESG aspects of transactions, helping them understand and quantify ESG risks and opportunities to inform investment decisions, particularly related to mergers and acquisitions and IPOs.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Strong Investment Banking Background: Proven experience in M&A transactions, valuation analysis, and working with private equity clients.
ESG Expertise: Deep understanding of ESG and sustainability concepts and their financial implications. Passion for integrating ESG into business strategies to improve investment outcomes.
Analytical & Communication Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, including advanced PowerPoint presentation skills.
Financial Modeling Proficiency: Strong financial modeling and valuation skills with proficiency in Excel and other financial analysis tools.
Industry Knowledge: Experience in sectors such as technology, healthcare, infrastructure, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, business services, or manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities:

ESG Exit Preparation: Lead ESG due diligence for M&A transactions, identifying material ESG risks and opportunities affecting valuation and transaction outcomes.
Valuation Analysis: Integrate ESG factors into financial models and valuations, assessing their impact on deal pricing and investment returns.
Post-Investment Value Creation: Recommend ESG-driven value creation initiatives post-transaction to improve portfolio company performance.
Client Interaction: Direct engagement with clients’ investment teams, presenting findings and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Market Insights: Stay updated on market trends and regulatory developments in ESG and sustainability finance.
Client Engagement: Collaborate with private equity firms’ investment and operating teams and portfolio company management to integrate ESG into business models and strategic planning.
Presentations & Workshops: Develop and deliver presentations to executive audiences, effectively communicating complex ESG concepts and recommendations.
Teamwork & Project Management: Collaborate with the value creation team, transaction advisory team, and ESG specialists; manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior team members.
Client Relationship Management: Support ERM leadership in strengthening client relationships.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CFA designation preferred.
Experience: 2-3 years of investment banking experience, with a focus on M&A transactions and valuation. Private equity client experience is highly desirable.
Skills: Strong financial modeling and valuation skills; deep understanding of investment banking processes; excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; experience with ESG and sustainability concepts; advanced PowerPoint skills.

Compensation:

The anticipated annual base pay is $82,000 – $89,969 (USD), with an annual discretionary performance bonus. A comprehensive benefits package is also offered.
