Job Description: Product Test Engineer Intern
This internship within Dometic’s Product Development team offers hands-on experience and a chance to make a real impact. The intern will report to the Director of Product Testing, Regulatory, Compliance and be located in Elkhart, IN.
Project Overview: A significant portion of the internship involves the construction and validation of a caloric test chamber.
Project Measurables: The intern will contribute to the company’s ability to validate compliance with FMVSS 302, UL 94, and UL 1694 standards for materials and parts.
Anticipated Project Output: The intern will help verify and validate print requirements on sourced parts and design configurations to ensure compliance with FMVSS 302 and UL 94 safety requirements.
Main Responsibilities:
• Sourcing and assembly of necessary parts for the test chamber.
• Confirmation of the test chamber’s operation and accuracy.
• Creation of technical documentation, including an instruction manual, documentation, and test procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Must be a current student or recent graduate (minimum rising sophomore level).
• Coursework related to engineering, physics, or a similar technical field.
• Ability and willingness to fabricate mechanical and plumbing assemblies and systems.
• Basic proficiency in relevant tools or software (e.g., Microsoft Office, programming languages, AutoCAD).
• Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.
• A passion for product testing.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
