Job Description: Summer Finance Intern

Position Summary:

Guggenheim Securities is seeking a summer intern to join its Finance team in New York. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent written and oral communication abilities, and the capacity to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This internship is part of Guggenheim’s Corporate Intern program, offering exposure across the firm through educational opportunities, mentorship, networking, and community service events. Interns will interact with senior management, gain insights into the financial services industry, and develop essential business skills.

Essential Job Functions:

The Finance department handles all financial aspects of the business, including reporting and forecasting revenue, expenses, profitability, balance sheet, and cash flow metrics. Sub-functions include accounting, FP&A, regulatory & risk, treasury management, accounts payable/receivable, and compensation. The intern will support these functions by:

Competitive Analysis: Contributing to market and competitor research.
Management Reporting: Assisting in the daily, weekly, and monthly review of business performance.
Planning: Supporting budget, forecast, strategic plan development, and business reviews.
Expense Reporting and Analysis: Analyzing and reporting on expenses.
Ad hoc financial analysis: Conducting other financial analyses as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong background in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to prioritize effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proven ability to take initiative and critically analyze processes and procedures for improvement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
• Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Basic Qualifications:

3.0 GPA or higher.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Enrollment in an undergraduate program with at least two years completed by the start of the internship.

Work Location:

The role is primarily based in the New York office, requiring a minimum of four days per week in the office.

Salary:

$20 per hour for 40 hours per week.
